Open M.E.S.E. Competitions. Fall 2009 — Spring 2010.

Consumer economics.

1. BASIC STATEMENTS

To take part in a competitions, each team must register itself at a website www.mese.su till 1st November, 2009, 22:00 GMT+3. To became a competitor, each student must be involved into JA Program of any Junior Achievement office, with the exception of teams, previously disqualifyied. There is no limitation on number of teams from one JA office. After registration, each team must send a regular postal letter, contains as minimum:

  • At least one photo with all team members, teachers, consultants, JA staff, sponsors, etc. All names should be placed at the back of the photograph. This photo may appear at website.;
  • a postcard from you city;
  • cover letter with the name of a team, short list of achievements and return address.

This letter should appear at our headquarter prior to 30th November 2009. If such a letter will not be delivered, the team will be cancelled from a competition.
One person may not take part in more than one team per year.

2. PROCEDURES

Competition consisits of qualifying round and three main rounds. Eac team takes part in all three rounds if succeeded to the following conditions:

  • Team successfully passes qualifiying round;
  • Team makes all decisions in all periods of a round
    OR It takes more than 50 points (See par.5) at the end of a round.
After each round teams will be reassigned to a groups according to their rating: e.g. in the first group will compete teams with a highest rating, in a second group — teams with the second best rating an so on. So, on each stage teams will challenge with equal competitors, and after the third round best teams will be known.
Team's rating in each round will be multiplied with 0.5, 0.75, 1 in a first, second and third period. At qualifiying round all teams will be assigned randomly. After 4th period, in order to qualify to the main contest, team should get more than $10'000 of retained earnings OR not less than 50 points (see par.5) OR made all 4 decisions.


3. DECISIONS AND SCENARIO

Competition scenario will include all three products: EchoPen, MacroWaves and ConcertMasters. Each round consists of 7 periods.
Reports and scenario will be placed at special game zone on a website. If decision won't be entered on time, it remains untouched.
Periods usually closes twice per week, on tuesday and saturday, 18:00, GMT+3.
Current timetable may be obtained from a website.

4. LIMITATIONS

In each period team should not have orders demanded more than two times of orders supplied, otherwise team may be disqualified.
Limitations on production: 0 — Q, where Q is a factory capacity.
Limitations on Marketing, Investment and R&D: no more than $25'000 at each position.
If loan will be exceeded, then program will ignore it. All overloans will be calculated in the end of a round and will be taken into account (See par.5).
Decision may be entered and re-entered without any restrictions.

5. DETERMINING THE WINNER

The final standings will be organized according to a sum of points (multiplied by a coefficient, See par.2) of all three rounds. If a couple of teams will have equal points, then winning will be determined by a result of a last round.
Rating of a team in paricular round is determined as per cent of MPI of a group leader minus 1% of fine for each $1'000 of overloan.

6. REGIONAL CONTEST: COUNTRIES COLLUSION

After qualifying round and the first round, 8 national teams will be chosen for special contest. Each national team consits of 2 teams from one country/region, that may coordinate their decisions in a contest against another national teams. Each team may be chosen (according to a resuls in a qualifying and first round), but it cannot reject the invitation. Full procedures will be stated in a special newsletter.

7. PRIZES

Top three teams will be awarded by a prizes. Top eight teams will be awarded by a certificate of award.
